A 64MP QUAD-CAMERA SETUP WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE HONOR PLAY 5

Honor was released by Huawei in November of last year. Free of the constraints placed by the US government, we are now able to soar to greater heights as a stand-alone business. Honor is now owned by a Chinese conglomerate and is attempting to dominate the smartphone industry. So far, the business has been moving at a snail's rate, but that could change in the second half of 2021 as Honor begins to brand more smartphones. Now, the company is preparing the ground for the Honor Play 5, a product aimed at the mid-range market

A render of the Honor Play surfaced earlier this month, along with some information about its quad-camera setup, which is said to be led by a 64MP camera. There are no longer any questions about the main camera, as Honor confirmed on Weibo that it will feature a 6MP Quad-Camera setup. The company also used the opportunity to tease the device's thickness of 7.46mm. Companies seem to be returning to the thin smartphone trend; ideally, this will not come at the expense of battery life

Honor play 5 specifications

The Honor Play 5 will compete with some of the market's premium mid-range smartphones that support 5G. The unit will allow 66W quick charging, which is cutting-edge. The company also posted a render of the smartphone, confirming what to expect. It will have a 6.53-inch touchscreen with a top-mounted waterdrop notch. It's an OLED screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio that's FullHD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels). We also expect the phone to have an in-display fingerprint scanner

It will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset, which will provide 5G connectivity and decent performance. The basic model should have at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, the 3,800mAh battery capacity confirms our fears. These days, we're used to smartphones with batteries that last longer than 4,000mAh. As a result, we can't say if the Honor Play 5's battery life would impress. It will only take a few minutes to completely charge it

The handset weighs just 179 grammes, making it a very small smartphone. It will have a 64MP main camera, as well as an 8MP ultrawide and two 2MP modules for macro photography and depth sensing. The next Honor smartphone will be unveiled on May 18. Hopefully, the company would reveal more details about its mobile future

For the time being, it's uncertain if the smartphone will ship with the out-of-date Android 10-based MagicUI or will eventually upgrade to Android 11
